Redland Company participated with Kaufman Lynn Construction to donate funds to the Canstruction project to feed the hungry.

Dear Sponsors,

The KL/PGAL team wishes to express our sincere thanks in making the 1st Palm Beach County Food Bank’s “Canstruction” project a success!  It was because of you that we were able to build Henry Flagler’s Personal Railcar No.91!  The following is what was displayed prominently on the board at our location in the Palm Beach Gardens Mall.

“Nearly 120 years ago, Henry Flagler effectively founded Palm Beach and West Palm Beach when he built the luxurious Royal Poinciana Hotel and connected it to the rest of the country by extending his railroad. His private railcar No. 91 is preserved inside the Beaux Arts pavilion at the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach.

In recognition of Flagler’s vision and lasting impact on Palm Beach County, our team recreated the iconic railcar using nearly 3,000 cans of food. The main body of the car is made up of 500 cans of Del Monte Green Beans for the outside of the train and 130 cans of Crushed tomatoes line the inside of the passenger car for structural support. The lettering above the windows is produced by using a combination of Giorgio Mushrooms and Del Monte Sweet Peas and the roof of the railcar is created from over 1,500 cans of Chipotle Hot Peppers. 120 Black bean cans make up the blue windows of the rail car and 60 cans of Red Peppers where used in creating the undercarriage of the railcar. Over 350 bags of Beans make up the ground gravel and wooden railroad tiles.

When railcar No. 91 steam rolled into West Palm Beach, it changed the course of this area. Let us all come together under the same ideals and determination of Henry Flagler and “Steamroll Hunger” – once and for all.”

Also on the display board at the mall in front of our location is our Special Thank You to our Sponsors!  All of our Platinum Sponsors logos are displayed along with a special  thanksto all our sponsors.  We also have included for you pictures of the Rail Car and a link to the PBC Facebook page. If you would like to stop by the mall, our Canstruction project is located in front of Nordstrom through this weekend.
